This design allow user to check if the valve is in open position or close position by look at the amount of stem that exposed. For non-rising stem design globe valve, the valve is in open position when the handle is turning to open position and in close position when the handle is turning to close position. However it is unable to check the position of non-rising stem globe valve compare to rising stem globe valve.
