Minimize false activations from pets, fans, or environmental vibrations. Compatible with all AutoHot On-Demand Hot Water Recirculation Systems for dedicated and non-dedicated return lines. This sensor offers plug-and-play connection for enhanced energy-saving performance and fast hot water access throughout your home. How It Works:  Detects Human Movement. The Hardwired | Infrared Motion Sensor uses infrared technology to detect when a person walks into a room or passes in front of it. This could be in a bathroom, kitchen, or hallway. Sends a signal to the system. Once motion is detected, it sends a signal to the AutoHot Demand Controller (the “brain” of the system). Checks if Hot Water is Needed. The Demand Controller checks a temperature sensor to see if the water in the pipe is hot or not. Activates the Recirculation Pump. If the water isn’t hot yet, the AutoHot Demand Controller turns on the hot water recirculation pump, which pushes hot water toward your faucet or shower so it’s always ready when you are. After a short time (about 3–5 seconds delay), the system stops sending the activation signal. If no more motion is detected, the system goes back to standby mode saving water and energy.
